After last year’s somewhat divisive Black Ops entry, Call of Duty is getting its Modern Warfare sub-series of the franchise back on track with Modern Warfare 4.

The upcoming sequel picks up after the events of Modern Warfare 3, where players take control of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier facing live combat for the first time alongside his squad. What begins as a routine patrol descends into chaos when North Korea launches a full-scale invasion, forcing Park and his unit into a desperate fight through collapsing cities and counteroffensives. The Campaign drops players into the chaos, pressure, and split-second intensity of ground-level combat.

Of course, some familiar faces return to, as operator-turned-outlaw Captain Price works outside the system he once served. A hunt for revenge draws Price toward a weapon powerful enough to shift the balance of power, setting in motion a conflict far greater than he ever anticipated. Forced into uneasy alliances and illicit operations, Price is pulled deeper into consequences he can no longer escape.

Like any CoD release, the multiplayer plays a huge role, and MW4 will feature a revamped online component with new physics and handling for weapons, improved movement, 12 new maps, and a new game type called Kill Block. It introduces a dynamic new multiplayer battleground where the combat space reconfigures between rounds, reshaping sightlines, routes, and cover to keep players adapting in real time.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 releases on 23 October 2026 on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
