This September, horror fans get a dose of tension-packed goodness with the return of two franchise entries, along with a long-awaited entry based on a Stephen King novel. On top of that, there are some laughs and thrills to mix things up. Here are the movies to look forward to in September 2025:

The Conjuring: Last Rites

Release date: 5 September 2025

The Conjuring franchise has been a breakout success since the first film, and the latest entry sees Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson return as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. They take on one last terrifying case involving mysterious entities that they must confront for one last battle.

Code 3

Release date: 12 September 2025

If you’re looking for some laughs this September, Code 3 should deliver just that. Starring Rainn Wilson (The Office) and Lil Rey Howery (Vacation Friends), Code 3 follows a burned-out paramedic on his final 24-hour shift. He is (unfortunately) tasked with training his eager but inexperienced replacement. What starts as a routine night quickly spirals into a chaotic, citywide odyssey that tests their endurance, instincts and sense of humour as they race from one emergency to the next.

The Long Walk

Release date: 12 September 2025

Based on Stephen King novel of the same name, The Long Walk is set in a dystopian United States ruled by a totalitarian regime. They force a group of young men to enter an annual walking contest in which they must maintain a speed of at least three miles per hour or risk execution. The contest ends when only one walker remains alive.

The Strangers: Chapter 2

Release date: 26 September 2025

The second film in the rebooted horror franchise arrives this month, continuing the arc of the stalking serial killers. Chapter 2 picks up when a couple’s vehicle breaks down, forcing them to take refuge in a remote Airbnb. As night falls, three masked strangers terrorise them until dawn.

One Battle After Another

Release date: 26 September 2025

An all-star cast, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, and Sean Penn, highlights this action thriller. It follows a band of ex-revolutionaries who reunite to rescue the daughter of one of their own after their evil nemesis resurfaces after a 16-year absence.
