Famous Dias Tavern to Open New Branch in Cape Town Southern Suburbs
Dias Tavern Villager is set to open mid-2023.
Located on an unattractive corner of Harrington Street, Dias Tavern may not be much to look at, but that hasn’t stopped the Portuguese restaurant from becoming a firm favourite in Cape Town. What Dias lacks in looks, it more than makes up for in the vibe and menu.
Serving simple, but delicious, Portuguese food, Dias Tavern is full at lunch every weekday and packed for dinner Wednesday through Saturday. If we’re talking food institutions in Cape Town, Dias Tavern certainly qualifies.
Now, the much-loved eatery is bringing its signature ‘salt of the earth’ charm to Cape Town’s southern suburbs. Dias Tavern took to its Facebook page to announce the news of the new location opening in Claremont and share a few concept photos of the new restaurant.
Located within the walls of Villager Rugby Club at 11 Imam Haron Road, Claremont, the new Dias Tavern Villagers Portuguese Restaurant is sure to attract many of the loyal Dias fans who live in the southern suburbs of Cape Town, as well as some new faces looking to get a taste of the infectious vibe Dias is known, and loved, for.
If you’re looking for a spot that serves tasty comfort food in an environment that is unfussy and unpretentious, then that’s what Dias delivers. The menu is likely to stay true to the original Dias offering with hearty dishes of Squid Tentacles, Chicken Livers, Peri-Peri chicken, and Steak Trinchado. Beer lovers can look out for their favourite Mozambican beers, like Laurentina, on the drinks menu.
Loved for its timeless consistency and quirky edge, Dias offers locals an escape from all the pretentious nonsense that the Cape Town food scene has become. It’s the type of place you can go back to enjoy again and again, without having to worry about taking out a second bond on your already overpriced 2-bedroom flat.
Responding to comments on its Facebook page, the Dias Villagers team hinted at an opening date of early June, 2023 but it’s best to keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates and news of the opening in the coming weeks.
