While 2018 was a blockbuster year for video games, 2019 has delivered a flurry of great games that every console or PC gamer should indulge in. From big-name sequels to some unexpected hits, here are the best games of 2019 that you can’t afford to miss out on!

Resident Evil 2

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

Resident Evil 2 is a stellar remake of the fan-beloved original, capturing the aura of the Playstation classic while reinvigorating the setting with new visuals, gameplay mechanics, and current-gen triple-A quality, making it not only one of the best remakes ever, but one of the best survival-horror games that you can get your hands on.

Mortal Kombat 11

Available on: Xbox One, PS4

It seems like all the iconic fighting franchises are back with a vengeance this generation, but it’s Mortal Kombat which always seems to raise the bar in terms of pure entertainment value and offering a deep yet accessible package for all types of fighting-fans to enjoy. Mortal Kombat 11 is a joy to play, even when you’re wincing at the sight of Scorpion kicking his throwing-spear through the skull of his opponent.

Metro Exodus

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

While many expected other big triple-A games to be the shining lights of 2019, it’s Metro Exodus that is one of the best games of the year (and arguably the best of the franchise). It’s slower and more calculated pace isn’t for everyone, but for gamers looking for a refreshing, meticulously-detailed, and intriguing first-person shooter experience, there’s not much that can compete with Metro Exodus.

Days Gone

Available on: PS4

Days Gone may not have the spiffy top-tier polish of other big PS4 exclusives, but it’s still a triple-A adventure that delivers an interesting story, addictive and tense gameplay, and a varied and diverse world to play in. It’s another notch in the belt for Sony and a title every PS4 owner should look into.

Devil May Cry 5

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

While ‘style over substance’ is often a route many games take, Devil May Cry 5 manages to deliver both in heaps, bringing one of the smoothest and reactive combat systems around, along with stunning visuals and a surprisingly interesting story that’ll catch fans and newcomers off-guard. Devil May Cry returns in stunning form with its fifth primary entry.
