We’re at the halfway point of 2019, and while there’s still two more quarters of gaming goodness to get through, the best selling video games in 2019 (so far) have been revealed, giving us an indication of where the sales numbers are headed in the 2019 gaming calendar.
The latest NPD (National Purchase Diary) video game sales report for the 10 best-selling games in 2019 features some big-name franchises, as well as some surprises.
Kingdom Hearts 3, the critically-acclaimed third primary entry into the long-running Final Fantasy and Disney crossover series, tops the list. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is the second highest seller of the year, while the follows in third place.
The brilliantsits in fourth place (a huge gamble which paid off famously for Japanese developer Capcom), and 2018’s massive Wild West adventure
- Kingdom Hearts 3
- Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
- Resident Evil 2 (2019)
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Jump Force
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
We reviewed Kingdom Hearts 3 earlier this year, saying that: “it’s a brilliantly made game on a technical level, despite one or two environmental glitches that weren’t particularly bothersome. The gameplay is solid, the combat is enjoyable albeit a little busy, the worlds are entertaining to explore, and being treated to a greatest hits of Disney characters and experiencing memorable stories puts a smile on one’s face.”
With the likes of FIFA 20, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order all still coming, could we see one of these franchises unseat Kingdom Hearts 3?
