In the shadow of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight released the week previously, there are no other AAA releases on the schedule this week (or this month, for that matter). However, there are some interesting smaller-name titles hitting online and physical store shelves this week worth checking out:

Rise of Incarnates

1 July (PC)

Rise of Incarnates may not look like much, but it has an interesting concept. It’s a free-to-play action game blending fighting and shooting in a 2v2 battle arena. The game’s playable characters are the so-called Incarnates, humans who have awoken mythical powers. Players could apply long-range assault with close-quarter combat. Their powers allow them to transform into a creature or summon a being to assist them in battle.

The Last Dogma

30 June (PC)

A weird first-person shooter is also on the cards this week. The Last Dogma is described as a “dark comedy action adventure” set in the year 1999 of an alternate reality world, where US actively campaigns for world domination, UK is ruled by the dictator from Iran and Yugoslavia is being invaded by several countries. It looks like its got some interesting ideas and some fun shooting segments, but expect it to be pretty rough around the edges.

Devilry

30 June (PC)

Another spooky game that will give you nightmares for weeks to come? Why not. Devilry tasks you with surviving the night in your rural home as a sinister apparition wrecks havoc in the stately manor. You’ve got to protect your family from the ghost using a variety of tools and weapons found around the estate, but it won’t exactly be shotguns and grenades.

J-Stars Victory Vs+

(PS4, PS3, PS Vita)

A bizarre mash-up fighting game brings anime-lovers some fan-service this week. J-Stars Victory VS lets up to four players battle it out against one another using a gameplay and graphical style similar to those of Dragon Ball: Zenkai Battle Royale. Fighters can move and fight in all directions on a 3D battle field, and players should learn the lay of the land and formulate a battle plan with a character suited to it. The roster includes characters from Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, Fist of the North Star and other popular anime series.

Anna’s Quest

2 July (PC)

Anna’s Quest is an incredibly artistic game – featuring gorgeous graphics, well voiced characters and a geniuinly good story. The game follows Anna, who possesses telekinesis, an unorthodox use of torture instruments, and a knack for improvisation, who, with the help of a shady fox, must make her way from the peaks of Glass Mountain to the deepest dungeon.
