Huawei Mate 40 Pro: SA Price, Availability, & What You Need to Know

Here’s everything you need to know about Huawei’s Mate 40 Pro!

Huawei has announced the local pricing and availability details of its upcoming Mate 40 Pro smartphone.

The Huawei Mate40 Pro continues with its smartphone design trend thanks to its iconic Space Ring design with its unique colourways of Mystic Silver and Black. This is then complemented upfront with the ultra-curved Huawei Horizon Display, which curves at 88 degrees, allowing for a completely borderless and unobstructed viewing experience.

By curving the display to this extent, Huawei also gives users the option to use the volume rockers either with the physical buttons or virtual ones that can be customised.

Performance & Specs

The Huawei Mate40 Pro features 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage space, and the 5nm Kirin 9000 flagship SoC (System on chip), the industry’s most advanced and transistor-dense SoC to date. It is powerful, power-efficient and high speed.

The Kirin 9000 adopts a three-level power efficiency architecture, with one big core, three middle cores, and four small cores. The clock frequencies of the cores are as fast as 3.13GHz.

The Kirin 9000 includes a 24-core Mali-G78 GPU, the most powerful GPU yet in a Huawei mobile SoC, which means it can run games at higher framerates and provide better picture quality to deliver a more immersive gaming experience.

The Mate 40 Pro features a 50MP Ultra Vision camera (f/1,9 aperture, 1/1.28 inch sensor), a 20MP Ultra Wide Cine camera (f/1.8 aperture), and a 12MP telephoto camera (10x hybrid zoom, 50x digital zoom).

Price & Availability

The Huawei Mate 40 Pro will be available from 1 April 2021 and priced at R19,999 (RRP).

Huawei is also running a promotion, whereby if you pre-order the Mate 40 Pro with a R500 deposit, you’ll receive an extra R1,500 discount off on the balance of the purchase price. This promotion is exclusive to the Huawei online store and limited to the first 200 customers.
