A. Lange & Söhne Bring Prestigious Timepieces to SA

Precision Swiss watch brands are relatively well-known, but A. Lange & Söhne is a German timepiece brand that very few people of the modern generation may know.

But, the long-standing brand has recently made a comeback and has opened its first point of sale in South Africa, in a shop-in-shop format at the Vault in Melrose Arch in Johannesburg.

The watch brand was initially founded in 1845 by Ferdinand Lange, and enjoyed a success in producing pocket-watches for many years under subsequent generations of the Lange family. While the brand disappeared for a period in the mid 20th century, it returned again in 1990.

The Lange 1 is probably their most famous modern model, showcasing a subtle and more refined appearance compared to many of the Swiss brands that prefer more striking designs.
