Enjoyed ‘Longlegs’? Here’s the Director’s Next Horror Based on a Stephen King Story

The horror genre is having its time in the limelight, with some incredibly terrifying and brilliant movies hitting the big-screen as of late. Longlegs has been one of the standout surprises of 2024, and the next film from director Osgood Perkins is on its way in 2025 with some serious pedigree behind it.

Based on the short story by famed writer Stephen King, with The Conjuring director James Wan on board to produce, The Monkey is an upcoming film that is set to star Theo James and Elijah Wood.

The film follows twin brothers Hal and Bill who stumble upon their father’s vintage toy monkey in their attic. Following that, the pair witness a string of horrifying deaths unfolding around them. In an attempt to leave the haunting behind, the brothers opt to discard the monkey and pursue separate paths over time. However, when the inexplicable deaths resurface, the brothers are compelled to reconcile and embark on a mission to permanently eliminate the cursed toy.

The Monkey is due in cinemas on 21 February 2025.
