5 Movies of September 2024 You Need to Watch
Check out what’s hitting the big-screen this September.
September cranks up the volume on the explosive, horrifying, and adventure-packed movie releases, with a veteran Tim Burton sequel, a returning superhero, and an origin tale of everybody’s favourite robots-in-disguise. Here are the films to catch this September:
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
Release date: 6 September 2024
Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega all star in the long-awaited sequel to Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice. Thirty-six years after the events of the first film, the Deetz family returns home to Winter River after Charles Deetz’s unexpected passing. Lydia’s life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened, releasing Beetlejuice.
Speak No Evil
Release date: 13 September 2024
James McAvoy continues his horror streak with Speak No Evil, a psychological thriller from James Watkins (Eden Lake, The Women in Black) that follows a family that goes on a dream holiday with some newly-made friends, only to realise that they’re not who they appear to be.
Bagman
Release date: 27 September 2024
Bagman follows a family who finds themselves ensnared in a nightmare as they are hunted by a malevolent, mythical creature. For centuries and across cultures, parents have warned their children of the legendary Bagman, who snatches innocent children and stuffs them into his vile, rotting bag — never to be seen again. Patrick McKee (Sam Claflin) narrowly escaped such an encounter as a boy, which left him with lasting scars throughout his adulthood. Now, Patrick’s childhood tormentor has returned, threatening the safety of his wife Karina (Antonia Thomas) and son Jake (Caréll Vincent Rhoden).
Hellboy: The Crooked Man
Release date: 6 September 2024
The first two Hellboy movies are some of the best superhero movies around, and incredibly underrated too, and after a less-than-successful reboot in 2018, Hellboy is getting another take in the form of The Crooked Man. A more true-to-comic adaptation, this entry is directed by Brian Taylor from a script he wrote with original Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden, specifically deriving from The Crooked Man limited series written by Mignola. The film stars Jack Kesy as Hellboy, alongside Jefferson White and Adeline Rudolph.
Transformers One
Release date: 6 September 2024
Essentially an origin story and prequel taking place before the previous Transformers films, Transformers One goes fully animated and utilises the voice talents of Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. Set on the planet Cybertron, it follows Orion Pax and D-16, going from brothers-in-arms to archenemies as Optimus Prime and Megatron.
