Cult Durban Chicken Eatery, Afro’s Chicken Opens in Cape Town!

We love a good food trend here at MenStuff HQ and it seems that gourmet chicken is the new “it” food everyone will be chowing in the coming months – especially in Cape Town. Gourmet chicken joints have been popping up all over the Mother City and now with Durban’s cult street food-style chicken brand, Afro’s Chicken Shop joining the likes of Cocotte, The Chicken Shop and Roast & Co in Cape Town, we can officially say the trend is here to stay!

Durban-based Afro’s Chicken Shop took to social media to announce the opening of their first Western Cape shop and Cape Town fans have been readying their stomachs every since. Afro’s Chicken started out as a humble food trailer on the beachfront and these days they’ve got a serious cult following in KwaZulu-Natal, with 11 shops in and around Durban serving their unique brand of street food-style chicken.

So what can you expect? While we’ve already got loads of great roast chicken shops to choose from in the Cape, Afro’s will be introducing Capetonians to their unique Durban-style braaied chicken marinated in a homemade chilli or lemon sauce. Served in soft buns or with coleslaw or “tjips”, Afro’s chicken is a carb lover’s dream come true.
