Many sports brands are attempting to pivot to produce safety equipment for consumers, but Under Armour is taking it up a notch, creating a face-mask designed specifically with sport in mind.
While it may be tricky to jog, play, or generally breath with a face-mask on, Under Armour’s Sportsmask has been created with breathability and comfort in mind, while also being ready for the gruelling conditions of professional sport.
The Sportsmask features a three-layer design that utilises high-performance Under Armour materials to create structure to keep the mask off the mouth and nose, allowing better airflow and added comfort, which lessens moisture and sweat to pass. In addition, a moldable nose-bridge helps secure the mask in place, while reducing airflow to the eyes, which causes a common fogging problem for people with glasses.
The third layer of UA Iso-Chill fabric feels cool against the skin, stretches, and is treated with PROTX2, which is a non-metal antimicrobial technology that has been shown in laboratory tests to destroy COVID-19.
With the NBA, Premier League, Super Rugby, and many other professional sports getting back on track in the coming weeks, it’s likely that we’ll see the UA Sportsmask on some of the stars, even if it is just in training.
Retailing for around R699 (subject to market-related fluctuations at the time), the UA SPORTSMASK will be available at Under Armour stores nationwide.
