Gears of War Movie Confirmed, Heading to Netflix

A long-in-development Gears of War movie has been floating around Hollywood writers and studios for quite some time, but Netflix has officially confirmed that the project is in the works and will be hitting the streaming platform.

Announced via Twitter, the streaming service confirmed that they have partnered with The Coalition, developers of the Gears of War series, to help develop and produce the film.

Additionally, it was revealed that an adult animated series is being developed too, which will likely feature the gore, action, and chainsawing that we’ve come to expect from the franchise.

Gears of War, originally developed by Epic Games, follows the human race on an Earth-like planet called Sera, who have to battle against a subterranean threat known as The Locust.

It was also noted that the announcement has come on the 16th anniversary of the release of the first Gears of War, which landed on Xbox. 360 in November 2006.
