The worst kept secret this transfer window has finally, mercifully been concluded. Paul Pogba, the 23-year-old French midfielder has completed the deal that will see him return to the club where he spent 3 years as a youth player, Manchester United.

After his somewhat prickly departure from United as a result of his boisterous agent’s antics Pogba will be returning to the club he refers to as “his first family” – for a record-breaking fee of roughly £89m. This comes after four fantastic seasons in the Serie A with Juventus where he moved from strength to strength and eventually helped the Italian giants to a Champions League final the season before last.

He joins Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, alongside three other signings – Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Premier League is shaping up to be rather competitive this season and Mourinho clearly intends to hit the ground running with his signings. How Pogba will fit into United’s squad remains to be seen, but he’s likely to play as a central midfielder or as one of a pair of defensive midfield pivots. Time will tell though as Mourinho is equally fond of the 4-2-3-1 or standard 4-3-3 formations.

Let us know what you think, is he a future Ballon d’Or winner or merely a flavor of the month signing that will be found out when the dust settles?
