One of 2025’s biggest games, Ghost of Yōtei, has received a brand new trailer and release date, which will see the long-awaited sequel to 2020’s Ghost of Tsushima finally hit store shelves and digital.

Ghost of Yōtei will arrive on PS5 on 2 October 2025. The story is set in 1603 (around 300 years after Ghost of Tsushima), and sees you play as a new samurai-assassin named Atsu. She sets out on a journey in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, an area filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers.

The new trailer dives into the narrative a bit more and follows a gang of outlaws known as the Yōtei Six, who took everything from the sequel’s protagonist, Atsu. They killed her family and left her for dead, pinned to a burning ginkgo tree outside her home. But Atsu survived. She learned to fight, to kill, and to hunt, and after years away, she has returned to her home with a list of six names: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.

Developer Suckpunch also confirmed that the open-world will allow you to hunt down whichever member you want first, allowing you to play the game the way you want to. Atsu can also track other dangerous targets and claim bounties or seek out a weapon sensei to learn new skills.
