As is the case every year, July is jam-packed with some big movie releases due to the summer season up north. From horrors to dino-packed adventures, here are the movies to check out this July:

Jurassic World: Rebirth

Release date: 2 July 2025

After the Chris Pratt-starring trilogy of Jurassic World movies, the franchise is kickstarting its new chapter. Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and Rupert Friend. It is set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion and follows a team that has a top-secret mission to obtain genetic material from the three largest (and most dangerous) dinosaurs in order to create a drug to save humanity.

Superman

Release date: 11 July 2025

Following James Gunn’s takeover of the DC movie studios division in an attempt to steer the ship back to its former glory, the first trailer for the upcoming Superman reboot has now been released. Starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent / Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Superman gives a new look at the iconic superhero and his rise as a hero to Metropolis, despite a lot of scepticism. The film also features a variety of other DC heroes and villains, including Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Metamorpho, along with Lex Luther (played by Nicholas Hoult).

I Know What You Did Last Summer

Release date: 18 July 2025

Veteran horror franchises Final Destination and Scream recently made their returns, and now it’s time for another classic to make a comeback. Despite sharing the same name with the original, I Know What You Did Last Summer isn’t a reboot, but a sequel to 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprise their roles from previous instalments, but a newer, younger cast will hold things down this time. The plot takes place 27 years after the Tower Bay murders, when another hook-wielding killer appears and begins targeting a group of friends, one year after they covered up a car accident in which they supposedly killed someone.

Happy Gilmore 2

Release date: 25 July 2025 (Netflix)

Netflix’s comedy quality has been a mixed-bag lately, but it’s hard not to be enthusiastic about the long-awaited Happy Gilmore sequel. Adam Sandler returns as the rough-but-endearing hockey-player-turned-pro-golfer, who has to return to the sport to pay for his daughter’s ballet school. His old nemesis Shooter McGavin isn’t going to make it easy, though.

Fantastic Four: First Steps

Release date: 25 July 2025

We’ve seen a few iterations of the Fantastic Four over the years, and now the full Marvel Studios treatment will be given to the iconic heroes to integrate them into the MCU. Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) face their most daunting challenge yet: defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner).

Osiris

Release date: 25 July 2025

Osiris is a new alien-action film coming from director William Kaufman that is somewhat of a throwback to the sci-fi movies of the 90s. There are some clear inspirations from the likes of PredatorAlien, and Terminator, which is awesome to see. It follows Special Forces commandos who are abducted mid-operation by a mysterious spacecraft and, upon awakening, team up with a mysterious woman (Linda Hamilton) in a fight for survival against a relentless alien race.
