For 40 years, Discovery Channel has done more than entertain; it has sparked curiosity, shaped careers, and transformed lives across the globe. As part of its milestone anniversary, the channel is celebrating its legacy with Discovery Changed My Life, a powerful series spotlighting individuals whose lives were profoundly influenced by its content. Among them is South Africa’s Darren Britz, the only South African featured in the series.

Darren, now a celebrated wildlife filmmaker and photographer, credits Discovery shows like Deadliest Catch and Man vs. Wild for igniting his passion for storytelling and the natural world. Watching these programs as a child with his father set him on a path to becoming one of Africa’s leading visual storytellers.

Today, Darren leads Cinematography & Photographic Safaris at Lion Camp in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, where he mentors others in capturing Africa’s breathtaking beauty while championing conservation.

Darren’s story is a testament to Discovery’s transformative power, showing how its content inspires awe, drives action, and connects people to the planet. Watch the video below on Darren Britz and this Instagram reel here for a glimpse into his journey.
