On 8 August 2025, I had the privilege of being invited to the launch of Logitech’s new wireless mouse and keyboard combination, the MK250 range. Designed specifically for the hybrid worker, this combo has a wide variety of features at a very affordable price range that makes it an excellent budget-friendly package.

First and foremost, what I found interesting was that both the MK250 keyboard and the mouse are each made from 60+% recycled plastic, which makes the manufacturing process sustainable and environmentally conscious. Each keyboard and mouse comes equipped with pre-installed batteries that you can easily replace should the batteries die, with the keyboard using 2 AAA batteries and the mouse using 1 AA battery.

Secondly, both the mouse and keyboard were designed with a new “quiet” technology in mind. This means that the mouse clicks are softer, and the keyboard doesn’t make the aggressive clickety-clack that is so well-known from older and mechanical keyboards, which makes it perfect to use in quiet office spaces or shared work spaces.

The Bluetooth technology is impressive, with the mouse and keyboard able to work from a distance of up to 10m (I checked, it really does work). So, if you have very good vision and are feeling a bit lazy, you can comfortably set up your work space to connect to your TV, and work from your couch should you so desire.

The keyboard also has a liquid resistance of up to 60ml, which is perfect for those unfortunate coffee or water spills, whether that be as a result of bumping into your desk, or your cat jumping up for some scratches.

As part of the launch, we were given the opportunity to test out the MK250 mouse and keyboard through some standard online tests –  a speed typing test and a mouse sensitivity test. True to form, some of our competitive nature came through, but it turned the testing into a fun time.

The keyboard and mouse are lightweight and compact, which makes it easier to pack up into your work bag and commute with. However, the size of the mouse and keyboard is definitely smaller compared to standard sizes, so people with bigger hands might find using them a bit difficult at first. Eventually, you get used to the size of the keyboard, although you might still accidentally hit the CAPS Lock every now and then.

The mouse is also extremely sensitive in terms of moving it around on a standard table, so a mousepad would be recommended in order to prevent it from flailing about wildly on screen while you try to open up any important documents or presentations.

While this combo has been designed for both men and women, women might find it easier to adapt to the compactness of the mouse and keyboard, whereas men might have a more difficult time in the beginning as a result of their larger hands and fingers.

If you enjoy playing games in your off-time, then sadly, this fantastically quiet set is not for you. The MK250 series can do almost anything, but I fear that the intense clicking of the mouse and furious typing on the keyboard will not survive the competitive nature of any game. On that note, it’s designed to cater to a more business-oriented, casual market, ideal for office or home use.

In closing, the MK250 wireless mouse and keyboard are a good investment for those who work hybrid jobs, and need to be quiet in shared spaces. The MK250 is also affordable, and has a limited hardware warranty period of 2 years. It’s lightweight, quiet, and compact, making the lives of hybrid workers easier and less noisy. At a comfortable price point of only R479, it’s a spectacular deal for the combo and coming from a reliable brand like Logitech, you can’t miss it.
