6 Hottest Movies of June You Need to See
Don’t sleep on these monster movies releasing in June.
The mid-year movie release schedule is heating up with Hollywood in its big summer blockbuster phase (while we endure the winter down here in the good ole Republic). The good news is that this means there are a host of exciting new movies to check out and we’ve rounded up the 6 best arriving in June:
Ballerina
Release date: 6 June 2025
Lionsgate is dead-set on expanding the world of John Wick beyond Keanu Reeves’ now-iconic character, and after The Continental TV show, the first spin-off film is on the horizon. Starring Ana de Armas, Ballerina takes place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023) and follows ballerina-assassin Eve Macarro as she begins to train in the assassin traditions of the Ruska Roma. Alongside Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves.
Predator: Killer of Killers
Release date: 6 June 2025
After 2022’s Predator prequel, Prey, was released on Hulu to a great reception, it turned out that there were two other Predator projects secretly in the works. One of these is Predator: Badlands, a live-action follow-up to Prey set on another planet, and the other is Predator: Killer of Killers, arriving this June on Hulu. This entry is an animated anthology showcasing a number of different Predator and human encounters, with the beloved alien taking on some of the best warriors throughout history. It looks awesome, and we can’t wait to see more.
Dangerous Animals
Release date: 13 June 2025
A shark movie with a twist, Dangerous Animals follows Zephyr, a rebellious surfer, who is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer (played by Jai Courtney) and held captive on his boat. She must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.
F1
Release date: 20 June 2025
Formula 1 and sports movie fans will want to keep an eye out for F1. Directed by Tron: Legacy and Top Gun: Maverick‘s Joseph Kosinski, the film follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a Formula One driver who raced in the 1990s and had a horrible crash that forced him to retire from Formula One. He’s pulled out of retirement in order to mentor rookie prodigy Joshua “Noah” Pearce for the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP).
28 Years Later
Release date: 20 June 2025
The third entry in the zombie survival franchise from Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle and Academy Award-nominated writer Alex Garland is arriving this June. Set almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory (as chronicled in 2002’s 28 Days Later and 2007’s 28 Weeks Later), some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. When one survivor decides to leave his haven island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well. The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes.
Megan 2.0
Release date: 27 June 2025
Picking up after the events of 2022’s horror hit M3gan, Gemma has become an author and an advocate for the regulation of artificial intelligence while trapping a still-active M3GAN in a small, harmless robotic doll. However, M3GAN’s technology has been stolen and used by a defence contractor to create a military robot called AMELIA (autonomous military engagement logistics and infiltration android), who turns on her creators. Leaving the once-nemesis M3GAN to be the last line of defence against this new threat. The first film had a fantastically dark sense of humour to balance the horror, and we can’t wait to see what Blumhouse does with the sequel.

Love reading Jeremy’s articles.
Really looking forward to all of these releases, but especially waiting for Ballerina.
Will MenStuff be having special screenings for any of these in Cape Town?
I’ll keep an eye on the socials.
Keep up the great work!
