Hands-On: Logitech’s New Gaming Mouse Delivers Physical Feedback to Your Fingers
Logitech’s Pro X2 Superstrike brings a serious level of customisation to your clicks.
Logitech celebrated the launch of its new Pro X2 Superstrike gaming mouse by combining a tactical shooting session with a Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 gaming experience, and decided to turn the two events into little competitions. The event was hosted at Tactical HQ at Fourways Mall, and each session allowed us to test out both the real and virtual versions of four different guns: a pistol, a rifle, a shotgun, and a sniper rifle.
The idea behind such an unusual launch was to blur the lines between fiction and reality when it comes to gaming. We were encouraged to focus on the physical sensation of firing guns (my shoulders are definitely feeling the punch), and that feeling of adrenaline you get when you hit the target. These feelings were then compared with the feeling of hitting your target in-game, and focus on how the haptic feedback of the mouse signalled your success in hitting your target. The concept behind the Pro X2 Superstrike came from wanting to translate a real-world feeling into a game world, and thus, the Superstrike gaming mouse was born.

Physically, the mouse is compact and lightweight, meaning your quick movements for micro-adjustments are almost non-existent. It also consists of two buttons on the side which can be linked to various hotkeys depending on your game (eg. binding your crouch and reload hotkeys in first-person shooter games). The design of the mouse is inspired by the symmetrical designs of the Pro Wireless and Pro X Superlight and Pro X Superlight 2, previous gaming mice developed by Logitech. The Superstrike can be played wirelessly with up to 90 hours’ worth of battery life, and makes use of a USB-C type cable to charge. It also comes with optional grip tape that you can stick around the mouse and on the buttons to prevent your hand and fingers from slipping off while playing.
The Pro X2 Superstrike gaming mouse is outfitted with HITS technology – haptic inductive trigger system. Logitech’s HITS technology replaces the standard microswitches that are found in other gaming mice. This means that your mouse click latency can be reduced by up to 30ms, making your aiming and targeting faster than your opponents’. With tunable actuation and reset points, you can calibrate how long it takes for the click to register.

The mouse click buttons can be adjusted and tuned to your specifications, meaning you can click faster or slower depending on your needs. This applies to both the left and right mouse buttons. Using Logitech’s G Hub application, you can fine-tune your settings and save different custom profiles, or import pro gamers’ settings and adjust them to your preferences. These settings consist of ten actuation points and five rapid-trigger reset points. For the haptic feedback, the custom hardware of the mouse syncs with the built-in sensors to provide an immediate physical response while playing. You can adjust this intensity from six different levels, from a low sensation to a high sensation.
The extreme sensitivity and superb reaction time make this mouse a must-have for any gamers who are looking to up their performance with the latest technology. Considering that this mouse was developed with the aid of over 100 pro gamers, I’d say that this mouse has set out to do exactly what it was meant to, and more. It is pleasing to look at with its black-and-white design, sits comfortably in your grip, and glides smoothly over your desktop surface, making gameplay even smoother and quicker than before. It’ll definitely give you an advantage in games where latency is your enemy.
The Pro X2 Superstrike gaming mouse is now available at most computer retailers for approximately R3,500. More information regarding the mouse can be found on Logitech G’s website.
