Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Prestigious Award at Gala Quinas de Ouro 2022
Ronaldo takes home a well-deserved award as he becomes Portugal’s greatest goalscorer.
Portuguese captain Cristiano Ronaldo was honoured at the 2022 Gala Quinas de Ouro for being the all-time top scorer for Portugal with 117 goals in 189 appearances at a ceremony hosted by the Portuguese Football Federation.
The 37-year-old Manchester United footballer received the award to celebrate his contribution to the national side, and was joined at the ceremony alongside some of football’s biggest stars, including AS Roma boss José Mourinho, who coached Ronaldo at Real Madrid, along with Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City defender Ruben Dias.

Ronaldo’s on-field impact is undeniable, as he led the Portuguese side to victory at the Euro 2016 tournament, and will once again captain his side at the World Cup in Qatar in November. However, his off-field influence can’t be understated too, as the star has 480 million followers on Instagram, while Argentina’s Messi is followed by 360 million people, a 38% growth over the past 12 months, and generates $2.6 million in media value per post and garners huge interest for the fixtures that he plays in (including ones that feature a Betwinner bonus code), as well as earning around $3.5 million in media revenue per social media post, according to Nielsen Sports analysts.
As for who is in the influencer runnings, Manchester United team-mate Jason Sancho is England’s most influential player, while Gave is a rising star with a 5,165% increase in subscribers. The ranking is based on Nielsen’s Influencer Measurement Tool, which analyses the total number of followers, the growth of followers, the rate of engagement and the average value of the brand per post on Instagram to provide the total value of the campaign.
Paris St-Germain’s attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Mbappé rank second, third and fourth respectively behind Ronaldo, each averaging more than $1 million per position. In the top 10, Vinicius Junior Brazil saw the biggest growth of any player with a 90% increase, after scoring the winner in the Champions League final for Real Madrid against Liverpool.
