It seems like April is the month of thrills and frights, with a handful of high-tension thrillers and horror movies on the horizon. We’ve rounded up the most-anticipated releases to get you ready for the edge-of-your-seat omnibus coming your way:

Locked

Release date: 4 April 2025

In this new single-location thriller, Bill Skarsgård (It, The Crow) stars as a thief who breaks into a luxury SUV, only to realise that he has slipped into a sophisticated and deadly trap. Anthony Hopkins plays the conniving antagonist who puts the thief through hell to prove a point.

Drop

Release date: 11 April 2025

Drop is an interesting technological twist on the stalker-genre, following Violet, a widowed mother, who is put through a trial by an unknown person while on a date. Violet is tasked with killing the man she is out to dinner with, or else her son and sister get the axe. It looks to be an intriguing edge-of-your-seat thriller and should be a goodie.

The Amateur

Release date: 11 April 2025

The action-revenge genre is fiery hot at the moment, and we’re getting another vengeance-fueled thriller with The Amateur, starring Oscar-winner Rami Malek and Laurence Fishburne. The film follows Charlie Heller (Malek), a brilliant, but deeply introverted decoder working for the CIA. After his life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack and his supervisors refuse to take action, he takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible.

Warfare

Release date: 11 April 2025

Directed by actual war veteran Ray Mendoza alongside the always brilliant Alex Garland, Warfare is based on Mendoza’s experiences during the Iraq War as a former U.S. Navy SEAL. The film follows, in real-time, a platoon of Navy SEALs on a mission through insurgent territory in 2006, and stars Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, Fantastic Four), Cosmo Jarvis (Shogun), Kit Connor, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, and Finn Bennett.

Sinners

Release date: 18 April 2025

Michael B. Jordan plays twin brothers in this mysterious horror-thriller from Ryan Coogler. The film follows the brothers as they try to leave their troubled lives behind. They return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.

The Accountant 2

Release date: 25 April 2025

2016’s The Accountant is one of the underappreciated Ben Affleck thrillers, telling the story of a mathematics servant turned assassin. The sequel has taken a while to be made, but it’s finally here. The follow-up picks up when Christian Wolff (Affleck) is recruited to solve a murder. With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax (played by Jon Bernthal), Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio draw the attention of some of the most ruthless killers alive, all intent on putting a stop to their search.

Until Dawn

Release date: 25 April 2025

Based on the video game of the same name (which proved to be a surprise hit), Until Dawn is a multi-horror adventure that fans of Cabin in the Woods will appreciate. The film follows Clover and her friends, who head into a remote valley where her sister disappeared a year before. They find themselves horrifically murdered, only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning. Trapped in an endless time loop, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again, only each time, the killer is different, each more terrifying than the last, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.
