2026 is set to be another monster year for films, with a handful of big-name franchise sequels on the cards, along with some films delayed from 2025 into the new year. We’ve got the lowdown, and here are the 7 hottest films you can’t afford to miss in 2026:

Street Fighter

Despite having a few prior live-action Street Fighter movies in the past, the iconic video game is getting a new lease of life in 2026. This time, the film leans hard into the colourful, chaotic, and somewhat bombastic world of Street Fighter, with the likes of Andrew Koji (Warrior), 50 Cent, Jason Momoa, and Andrew Schulz all starring.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

The fourth standalone Spider-Man film in the MCU sees the return of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and picks up after the events of No Way Home, which saw Dr. Strange’s spell cause the world to forget that Peter is Spider-Man, allowing him to fully focus on protecting New York City from new foes.

Avengers: Doomsday

The next colossal Avengers film is set to be the biggest, which takes place fourteen months after the events of Thunderbolts, where the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the “original” X-Men team up to face Doctor Doom, who is played by none other than Robert Downey. Jr.

The Odyssey

Directed by Christopher Nolan (Interstellar, Tenet, The Dark Knight), The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, on his long and perilous journey home following the Trojan War, chronicling his encounters with mythical beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, sirens, and the witch-goddess Circe, while attempting to reunite with his wife, Penelope. An all-star cast is led by Matt Damon, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron.

Mortal Kombat 2

2021’s Mortal Kombat film reboot was a fresh, fun, and gory take on the beloved video game series, bringing a gritty and more visceral adaptation of the classic fighting franchise to the big-screen. The sequel is on its way and looking to up the ante even further with a bigger cast of characters, more Fatalities, and a bigger budget. Karl Urban (DreddThe Boys) joins as fan-favourite character Johnny Cage.

Disclosure Day

Steven Spielberg’s latest film goes back to his origins and takes the form of a thriller that sees how humanity comes to terms with the existence of aliens. It stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson, among others.

Dune: Part Three

Dune Messiah is the sequel to 2024’s Dune: Part Two and the third and final instalment in Villeneuve’s Dune film trilogy. Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Josh Brolin, and Rebecca Ferguson reprise their roles from the second film, Jason Momoa reprises his role from the first film with Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, Ida Brooke and Robert Pattinson joining the cast.
