7 Hottest Games You Need to Play in August
Here are the games to have on your radar in August.
August is a blockbuster month for the gaming release schedule, seeing the return of some iconic franchises, some platform-jumps for some big-name IPs, and long-awaited sequels to appease fans across the board. Here are the games to play this August:
Mafia: The Old Country
Release date: 8 August 2025 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)
Coming from Hanger 13, the fourth long-awaited game in the Mafia franchise takes players back to early 1900s Sicily, where the origins of the original mafia began. This is set to be a big, cinematic single-player experience like previous Mafia games, full of shootouts, backstabbing, family drama, and more. We cannot wait.

Delta Force
Release date: 19 August 2025 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | Already on: PC)
The long-running Delta Force has undergone a reboot of sorts, with Delta Force launching on PC earlier in the year, and now making its way to consoles in August. The game is obviously focused on multiplayer action, but there is a single-player campaign too. It’s gritty, hard, and gorgeous in action, and should be checked out by anyone who loves a good military FPS.

Black Myth Wukong
Release date: 20 August 2025 (Xbox Series X/S | Already on: PS5 & PC)
Based on the ancient Journey to the West tale, Black Myth: Wukong is an action-adventure title powered by Unreal Engine 5 that’s packed full of martial arts combat, fantastical enemy designs, and drop-dead gorgeous visuals. It launched on PS5 and PC late last year to sublime reviews; so if you like your action with a heavy dose of style and fantastical elements, check this one out.

Gears of War: Reloaded
Release date: 26 August 2025 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)
For the first time ever, Xbox’s pride and joy, Gears of War, makes its way to the Playstation 5 (along with the Series X/S and PC), with Gears of War: Reloaded. The release is a remastered edition of the original 2006 game, with improved gameplay, visual fidelity, and some other quality-of-life features.

Dying Light: The Beast
Release date: 21 August 2025 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)
The Dying Light series has mastered the parkour-zombie-survival genre at this point, but things get shaken up with the spin-off/sequel, The Beast. You play as the original game’s protagonist Kyle Crane, who, after more than a decade in captivity, finds himself in a world that’s changed, and not for the better. Players will need to use the survival skills that kept you alive all those years ago to save even more innocent lives.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Release date: 28 August 2025 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)
One of the most beloved Metal Gear Solid entries is getting its remake this August with Snake Eater getting a ground-up rebuild from Konami themselves. Like the original, the remake is set in 1964 and follows a FOX operative codenamed Naked Snake (who becomes Big Boss) who has to infiltrate a secret base hidden deep in a Soviet jungle. The remake features modernised gameplay mechanics and current-gen visuals using Unreal Engine 5, but will utilise the original (and admittedly great) voice acting.

Lost Soul Aside
Release date: 29 August 2025 (PS5 | PC)
Lost Soul Aside is one of the most interesting yet underrated releases of 2025. Fans of Devil May Cry will want to keep an eye on this Chinese-developed action game, which follows Kaser and his companion Arena — a character capable of transforming into weapons and other elements that are useful in battles and throughout Kaser’s journey.
