Chiefs offer SBW three-year deal
Sonny Bill Williams could be lured back to Super Rugby with the prospect of joining the Chiefs and competing in the 2015 RWC.
The Chiefs have offered union and league star Sonny Bill Williams a three-year deal in an attempt to lure the big centre back to Super Rugby.
The offer proposes that the 28-year old Williams sees out the remainder of his NRL season with the Roosters, participate in the rugby league World Cup if selected, and then return to Hamilton in 2014 to play with the Chiefs.
Williams has reportedly said that his preference if he were to return to Super Rugby would be to play with the Chiefs, and that his goal is to play in the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
The flexibility in the offer would also allow Williams to stay in the NRL for an extended period and then return to the Chiefs in 2015, but only if he signs well in advance.
Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says that there are provisions in his squad selection if the offloading maestro would return to the franchise.
“Obviously we’ve held a position open for him and there’s plenty of time for us to see what happens,” said Rennie
“Sonny’s his own man and he’ll make that decision a little bit clearer later next month.”

I’m sure he’ll be keen for that… but only after he’s played in the league world cup, 7’s world cup, done a quick stint in the Japan club scene and has won the World Series with the the Yankees.
