New Assassin’s Creed Game Set in Japan Revealed — Watch the First Trailer
Ubisoft’s stab-’em-up franchise heads to Japan for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.
Ubisoft has officially revealed the next instalment into the beloved Assassin’s Creed franchise, with Assassin’s Creed: Shadows set to be the next game in the series.
Formerly known as Assassin’s Creed: Red, the new game is set in feudel Japan and stars two new playable assassins — Naoe, a ninja assassin, and Yasuke, an African samurai.
According to the game’s official description, players can live “the intertwined stories of Naoe, an adept shinobi assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, the powerful African samurai of historical legend. Against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, this remarkable duo will discover their common destiny as they usher in a new era for Japan.”
Players will be able to play as either Naoe and Yasuke as they see fit, but the two protagonists play very differently – Naoe is a shinobi who uses stealth, parkour, and gadgets, whereas Yasuke is combat-oriented and armoured – the pair’s personalities ultimately complement each other to form a unique dynamic throughout Shadows. Of course, smoke bombs, a vast variety of weapons, parrying, and the beloved hidden blade will all be present during combat.
Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will launch on 15 November 2024 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
