The Rugby League World Cup has officially kicked off, and the first round saw the defending champions New Zealand take on the formidable physical team of Samoa.
The Kiwis were able to close out the match 42-24, but the scoreline doesn’t resemble the fight that the New Zealanders had to put in to overcome the Samoans.
Warriors winger Manu Vatuvei managed to pick up three tries, making him the leading try scorer at the moment.
Sonny Bill Williams almost scored a try for himself, but a blunder in the in-goal area caused him to slip over the dead-ball line and the try to be disallowed.
