Rene Ranger smashes James O’Connor

Ranger vs O'Connor

Blues back puts the Melbourne Rebels’ playmaker flat on his back.

There were some big hits in Round 13 of the 2013 Super Rugby tournament, and if anyone was going to produce a moment of impact, it was Rene Ranger.

Ranger was back in his familiar position of outside centre, after spending some time on the wing, and the powerful back used his pace and deceptive skills to cut through the Rebels on a number of occasions.

His one break sent him on a full-pace run down the right side of the field, and James O’Connor attempted a tackle on the flying New Zealander.

O’Connor came off second best, but it has to be noted that O’Connor had been struggling in back-play from a sternum injury from a previous phase.

Rene Ranger is featured in the Team of the Week for being the best outside centre of the weekend.
