The Transformers have had their fair-share of airtime on the big-screen in recent years (with a new live-action movie on the way too), but the robots in disguise will be hitting Netflix’s streaming service for the first time this July with an all-new original story.
Split into three parts and being more of a long-episode series rather than a movie, the Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy features an anime-inspired aesthetic created by Polygon Pictures, the company that handled the animated Godzilla Netflix movies.
Longtime comic book writer and Transformers veteran F.J. DeSanto is the showrunner on the series, backing a voice cast that includes Jake Foushee (Optimus Prime), Jason Marnocha (Megatron), Linsay Rousseau (Elita-1), Joe Zieja (Bumblebee), Frank Todaro (Starscream), Rafael Goldstein (Ratchet), Keith Silverstein (Jetfire), ad Todd Haberkorn (Shockwave, Red Alert).
The first episode, Transformers: War for Cybertron: Siege, hits Netflix on 30 July. Part two, Earthrise, and the untitled part three have yet to receive release dates.
