Some tight encounters, brilliant individual performances, and dramatic moments made for an incredibly entertaining weekend of sport. But with so many great highlights, we decided to rank out top 5; so without further ado, here are our picks of the best sporting moments from the past weekend:

Manuwatu’s magic

Manawatu scored a sensational try against Waikato in the 23rd minute of their Mitre 10 Cup match when Newton Tudreu intercepted a stray crossfield kick by Damian McKenzie, before running 70 metres and kicking inside for Curtis Ambrose, who managed to kick ahead and touch down.

JP Pietersen’s strong debut for Tigers

Springbok winger JP Pietersen made a notable debut for his new Premiership club, the Leicester Tigers, scoring a try and making some great contributions on defence and attack.

England’s last gasp win

Adam Lallana scored with the last kick of the match as England edged Slovakia 1-0 in Sam Allardyce’s first game as manager in World Cup qualifying on Sunday.

Rieko Ioane’s brilliant tries

Young All Black Sevens star Rieko Ioane showed he belongs in the 15-man game too, scoring two excellent tries for Auckland against Southland.
