The launch of Intel’s new X79 platform is knocking on our doors with info and pics from various manufacturers. We have see many flavours from Gigabyte, Asus, Biostar, EVGA and MSI. Now we get a taste of X79 from ASRock. Lets have a look at whats cooking.
First off the line we see the flagship board called the X79 Extreme9. The board has 8 DDR 3 Dimm slots, dual 12V power connectors and five bad ass PCI express 16 slots for an insane crossfire/SLI setup. It also features Creatives new core3d audio chip for unparalleled audio quality.
Staying in the enthusiast bracket, we have the Extreme7. It has 6 memory slots instead of 8, 6 PCIe slots, more cooling than the Extreme9, and unfortunately lacks the Creative core3d expansion card.
The third offering is named the Extreme4. It has 2 less memory dimms than the Extreme7, 2 less PCIe x16 slots which are well distanced from each other to allow for a breezy three-way SLI/Crossfire setup. Although it doesnt feature as many PCIe x16 slots it has 7 PCI in total which make it the most versatile board here.
Finally, whats a a complete lin-up without the mini guy? The Extreme 4 is the ultimate mATX board for those looking to build an HTPC or something easy to carry to around.
