Woody Allen’s latest film To Rome with Love certainly has big shoes to fill.
After last year’s hit Midnight in Paris, Allen has probably felt the pressure to come back bigger and better. Continuing his European adventures, this time the historic Italian city of Rome, Allen explores four separate stories that “tell the story of a number of people in Italy—some American, some Italian, some residents, some visitors—and the romances and adventures and predicaments they get into.”
Allen has assembled an, as expected stellar ensemble cast which includes Ellen Page, Jesse Eisenberg, Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis, Alison Pill, and Greta Gerwig. Allen will make his first appearance on screen since the 2006 film.
Allen has hinted in press interviews for To Rome with Love that his next film will see him depart from Europe and head back home to the United States, more specifically San Francisco.
To Rome with Love premieres in the US on 22 June and South African on 24 August.
