It had long been assumed that this was the case, but now it’s been confirmed: Ryan Reynolds will be reprising the role of Deadpool, in the standalone movie due in 2016.
The news was first broken by the man himself. Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to post the following picture on his feed…
Reynolds last portrayed the merc-with-a-mouth in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, although the character differed quite a bit from the comic-book source material.
Tim Miller is set to direct the Deadpool movie, and Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland) have penned the screenplay for it. Furthermore, production on the film is set to begin in March, ahead of its release in February 2016.
