3 Awesome Movies Releasing in SA this Weekend

Secret-Life-of-Pets movie

We take a look at the big movie releases hitting cinemas across SA.

This weekend sees the return of some animated anthropomorphic hilarity, an intense cat-and-mouse thriller, and a true-story of disaster and heroism. Here’s our picks for the movies releasing Friday, 30 September 2016:

The Secret Life of Pets

Friday, 30 September 2016

The studio behind Despicable Me and Minion‘s next film takes an introspective look at the life of our beloved four and two-legged pets. Set inside a Manhattan apartment building, a terrier named Max finds his status as favourite pet in jeopardy when his owner adopts a giant, sloppy and careless mongrel called Duke. After being dragged into the city and caught by Animal Control, they’re sent to the pound, where they’re recruited into an army of lost pets by a bunny named Snowball.  Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Steve Coogan, Ellie Kemper, Dana Carvey Hannibal Buress, and Albert Brooks all lend their voices.

Collide

Friday, 30 September 2016

Collide may not be a well-hyped attraction, but it’s got the star-power to garner your attention. Starring Nicholas Hoult, Felicity Jones, Marwan Kenzari, Ben Kingsley, and Anthony Hopkins, Collide follows an American backpacker who finds himself on the run from a drug cartel after getting involved in a heist that goes terribly wrong. Now in possession of their precious cargo, he’s forced to call in favours and take the car chase onto Munich’s high-speed Autobahn to save his long-time girlfriend and escape the gang’s ruthless mob boss.

Deepwater Horizon

Friday, 30 September 2016

Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien, and Kate Hudson star in this true-life story of the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil rig disaster, which caused one of the world’s largest man-made catastrophes. This dramatisation of the worst oil spill in U.S. history honours the brave men and women whose true heroism saved many on board in their darkest hour.
