4 Biggest Movies Releasing in SA this Weekend

We take a look at the big movie releases hitting cinemas across SA.

This weekend gives movie-goers a number of new films that will deliver laughs, action, horror, and intrigue, depending on what you’re in the mood for, of course. Here’s our picks for movies releasing Friday, 28 October:

Keeping up with the Joneses

Release date: Friday, 28 October 2016

Keeping Up with the Joneses looks to keep the trend of ensemble comedies rolling along. Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher play an ordinary married couple who wind up in the world of espionage when they realize that their neighbors (Gal Gadot, Jon Hamm) are secretly government agents. In a month that is sorely lacking in laughter, Keeping Up with the Joneses could be the one comedy out there to win over audiences.

The Accountant

Release date: Friday, 28 October 2016

Ben Affleck steps away from the cape and cowl of Batman to play a very different but equally as intriguing role in The Accountant. Christian Wolff (Affleck) is a mathematics savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a forensic accountant for dangerous criminal organisations. With a Treasury agent (J.K. Simmons) hot on his heels, Christian takes on a state-of-the-art robotics company as a legitimate client. As Wolff gets closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, the body count starts to rise.

Release date: Friday, 28 October 2016

Yup, the dreaded video tape is back. Rings is the long-awaited sequel to The Ring 2, which follows a new character, Julia, a high school student, who grows concerned when she feels that she and her college boyfriend, Holt, may be drifting apart. Making an effort to find out what’s going on, she travels to his college where she learns he’s watched the cursed video tape as part of a club of students, who have been passing it between each other, beckoning the return of Samara.

Shepards & Butchers

Release date: Friday, 28 October 2016

Steve Coogan stars as advocate Johan Webber in this story set during the height of Apartheid in South Africa in the late 1980s. Webber is assigned to a young warden, Leon Labuschagne (Garion Dowds), who embarked on a seemingly motiveless shooting spree that left seven black men dead. Webber sets out to prove his client’s actions were a direct result of psychological trauma from his volatile work environment.
