After a few teases from star Brie Larson, Marvel has released the first official trailer for their upcoming Captain Marvel movie.
Set in the 1990s, the film follows Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) who awakes with some incredible powers and no memory, but decides to explore the mystery of her abilities and past by joining a team known as Starforce, which is led by a character played by Jude Law. It is also confirmed that Ronan — who we first saw in Guardians of the Galaxy — and the Skrulls, shape-shifting aliens who have long been classic villains in Marvel’s comics, will feature in the film. A younger Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) will also make appearances.
Given when the movie is set, the film will essentially fall quite early on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with the Avengers: Infinity War end-credits in mind, the character will play a key-role in the next Avengers sequel which is set in modern times; so how exactly the Captain Marvel movie plans on bridging the timeline is yet to be seen.
Captain Marvel will hit theatres on March 8th, 2019.
