There’s a blend of funny and fear with two big comedies and a psychological thriller hitting the cinemas this weekend, and to give you a breakdown of what’s releasing this Friday, 6 May, here’s our rundown of the big-screen arrivals:
Bad Neighbours 2
The unlikely duo of Seth Rogan and Zac Efron reunite for a sequel to their 2014 comedy, Bad Neighbours. Having won a hard-fought battle against the frat house next door, Mac (Rogan) and Kelly Radner (Rose Byrne) are ready to live happily ever after. However, just as they’re about to kick their feet up and sigh “home sweet home”, a raucous sorority moves in next door threatening the peace and forcing them to seek the help of their former nemesis, Teddy (Efron).
Ethan Hawke and Emma Watson star in this unsettling thriller with some twists and turns in it. The film follows detective Bruce Kenner (Hawke) who unearths a shocking conspiracy after investigating the case of John Gray, a father who confesses to having sexually abused his 17-year-old daughter, Angela (Watson). Having no memory of having been abused, she undergoes an experimental technique to remember, tearing the father and daughter apart and unlocking dark and disturbing truths.
Following in the tradition of New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day, director Garry Marshall delivers more heart warming romance and light comedy in Mother’s Day. The romantic comedy features a star-studded ensemble and follows several intersecting stories about life, love and motherhood as the title holiday approaches. Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, and Kate Hudson are some of the actors lighting up the screen in this one.
