Last month, Samson unveiled actor and former Ajax Cape Town soccer player, Eric Macheru, as its newest brand ambassador, and we got the chance to catch up with the style-setter to find out more about his involvement with the brand and what tips he has on offer for guys looking to shake things up – fashion-wise, that is.
The 32-year-old, who hails from Limpopo and is popularly known for his role as Leeto on SABC 1’s Skeem Saam, explained that working with Samson was a no-brainer and organic relationship waiting to happen.
“Being contacted by the Samson team was amazing, and being asked to be an ambassador was a dream come true. Its crazy how simple and direct it was – it’s been beautiful collaboration,” said Macheru.
Macheru, who showcases the Samson brand through his dynamic and inspirational lifestyle, said that his main priority with any fashion is feeling good. “I’m a comfort dresser, I always look for comfort before anything else; and the Samson range is perfect for comfort and style, which is why the partnership is a perfect fit!”
As for any tips for the guys out there, the Afda film graduate suggested tinkering with your existing outfit to make it fit your personal style a little more. “Folding the sleeves of a t-shirt or the bottom of jeans always gives it another dimension to a look – and it’s simple to do!”.
Going from the football pitch to the screen, Macheru admits that his fashion sense has changed with the transition, but always keeps his soccer-style incorporated into his wardrobe. “Yeah I believe so, I always have some sports brand around my closet.”
Which is ideal, because Samson features a considerable range of different style items for those looking for formal, street, and casual wear, but which ones are Macheru’s favourite?
“My favourite Samson items are the demins and the hoodies, they definitely stand out.”
Looking ahead, Macheru promises to showcase a different side of Samson to his audience, highlighting the dynamic element of Samson, as it caters for a wide variety of male South Africans.
“You can look forward to an amazing relationship between myself and Samson, one of learning and switching the mindset of the street hustle, everyday hustle and workwear.”
