Guys, we’ll admit it for you – looking after ourselves is a lot of work. We just don’t have the perseverance and dedication to prime ourselves day in and day out (like we should be doing), but given the harshness of winter and some great new easy-to-use products available, we thought it was only fair to highlight some items that can make the grooming process something to look forward to, rather than dread.
L’Oreal Men Expert Hydra Energetic range
It’s winter, and that means things get dry, so to save us from dehydrated skin, L’Oréal Men Expert’s new Hydra Energetic range caters specifically for the active man of today, because we need to be pampered too. The male skincare range helps fight the appearance of spots and imperfections, while giving you 24 hour skin protection and moisturising. Included in the range is the magnetic effect black coal face wash, the anti-fatigue moisturiser, and thermic resist antiperspirant roll-on and deodorant.
- Magnetic effect face wash – R89.95
- Anti-fatigue moisturiser – R129.95
- Thermic Resist Anti-Perspirant – R24.95
- Thermic Resist Clean Cool Fragrance Anti-Perspirant – R39.95
Bearworx grooming goods
The modern man needs access to some pretty to-notch stuff when grooming that manly beard – after all, you want it to be super-soft, maybe even puppy-soft, when caressing it. Beardworx is a South African brand which specialises in male-face-hair-care (it’s a thing) and they offer some awesome products to help keep your crumb-catcher in check, so if your dad is a beard-wearer, this is a great option.
Some of the original items include the Beardworx soap bar (R100), the beard balm (R200), beard oil (R180) and a beard shampoo (R150) – everything you need to keep that fuzz operating smoothly. The Beardworx products are available from The BroShop.
Niche For Men face and body wipes
Hitting the gym before work and need that cleaning solution on the go? Niche For Men wipes introduce a solution to body odor when a shower isn’t availabvle. The wipes eliminate the odour instead of masking them, which is usually the case with most colognes and deodorants. Each wipe is individually foil wrapped for convenience to carry on the go. Wipes unfold to the size of a small hand towel (9 x 11 inches). Pretty handy if you’re out and about every day with little time to spare.
Philips Series 9000 electric razor
The 900 series electric razor is said to be the most advanced Philips has ever made. The three independent rotating heads each move in 8 different directions for better contouring of your face. Philips claims this captures 20% more hair in every pass, and it definitely seems the case as it provided us with a close, clean and rash-free shave. Also, one of the unique components of the new 9000 series, is a combination charger and cleaning system for the blades of your shaver.
Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator face wash
As guys, we tend to underplay the need for a face wash. The Oil Eliminator Deep Cleansing Exfoliating Face Wash from Kiehl’s is a refreshing addition to the arsenal of bathroom facewashes out there. It delivers a coarse wash that isn’t rough or damaging to your skin, along with the oil-eliminating effect, which really does leave the skin feeling clean without that oily shine. It’s a favourite in our MenStuff HQ bathroom.
