Upcoming rugby video game, Rugby Challenge 3, is set to receive some news, a trailer, and some new details regarding the release date of the highly-anticipated game “very soon”.

According to a new Tweet from developer Wicked Witch Software, who took over work on the game from New Zealand developer Sidhe, who worked on Rugby Challenge 1 and 2, fans can expect an update on the game’s arrival date shortly.

Rugby Challenge 3, which is set for release on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, never had a firm release date, however the initial release window was mid-to-late October 2015. A delay for the game was then announced.

Hopefully the delay will only boost the quality of Rugby Challenge 3 which, given the previous games in the franchise, has a lot of potential to be something special.

Rugby Challenge 3 will bring some new features to the series, as the game is set to include a Be A Pro mode, a Fan-hub to allow players to create their own players and teams, the Super Rugby, ITM Cup and Currie Cup tournaments and team licenses, and for the first-time in a video game, Sevens rugby.

It’s also interesting to note that this is the fourth rugby-oriented game coming out this year, with Rugby Challenge 3, Rugby World Cup 2015, as well as Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, which will feature Sevens rugby.

I don’t think the games sales are going to be great. Had it been released the week before RWC it would have done better. I think a lot of people will have lost interest.

Such a shame it wasn’t released before the World Cup.

Maybe the delay is that it isn’t very good and they didn’t want to put people off rugby before the World Cup?

Maybe the switch to a different developer will have changed it up?

The screen shots look great. Has anyone gotten a chance to play the game yet?

They were a huge waste of money and time. They could have just been demo discs sold with magazines or something. They just weren’t worth it.

I think that’s why none of them are released for review before they are sold. The developers keep the game under wraps until it gets released. So everyone thinks “oh cool the new rugby game is out” and they haven’t heard if it is good or not yet.

Why didn’t they buy a nfl game and change some stuff so that everything works?

They really didn’t capitalize on releasing before the World Cup. Great. Will have to make a good shopping filler

I’m betting it’s worth waiting for it to hit the sale racks based on its predecessors
