If you think you’ve got your roundhouse-kicks and Fatalities perfected, you’ll be glad to know that South Africa is one of the countries selected from around the globe to participate in the Mortal Kombat Cup this year.
South Africans have the opportunity to be involved in a global gaming experience, riding off of the release of Mortal Kombat X next week. The South African MK Cup tournaments will be hosted by Ster Kinekor Entertainment, which will see the presence of local celebrities as well as our top gamers showing off their fighting skills and dexterity.
In search of the top 16 finalists, qualifying events will be held in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban during the month of May taking the qualifiers all the way to the MK Cup SA Grand Final on 6 June 2015, where one finalist will be crowned as South Africa’s best Mortal Kombat X player. Hosted in the City of Gold, the finals will not only offer a R 30,000,00 prize pool for the top three participants, but also exclusive spot prizes for the spectators. The winner will walk away with a 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4 console as well as automatically qualify for a seat in the Grand Final which will take place in France, at the Japan Expo.
Whether you are a spectator or participant, there is no doubt that everyone will be sitting on the edge of their seats with spectacular prizes up for grabs.
