6 Most Anticipated Games of November 2017

Games of November 2017

Here are the top video game releases for the month of November 2017.

Which games should be on your radar this month? We take a closer-look at the incoming releases that you need to earmark, including a returning war veteran, an experienced racer, and an intergalactic opera, among others.

Call of Duty: World War II

Release date: 3 November (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

This year’s Call of Duty leaves behind the space battles, jet packs, and futuristic weaponry, in favour of a WWII shooter reminiscent of the franchise’s roots. Far more focus has been placed on the gritty, “boots on the ground” single-player campaign (which also likenesses and voice talents of Transformers‘ Josh Duhamel and Jeffrey Pierce of Justified and The Last of Us). But of course, multiplayer is always the real meat of any COD game, and WWII promises to bring the biggest and most comprehensive online component to date.

Horizon: Zero Dawn — The Frozen Wilds DLC

Release date: 7 November (PS4)

While not a full game per se, The Frozen Wilds expansion for Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the most anticipated additions to the gaming calendar this month. The Frozen Wilds opens a whole new area to explore in the Horizon world, along with a new story for players to take on. There are also new enemies and discoveries to encounter, adding a whole new layer of depth to the Zero Dawn experience.

Super Lucky’s Tale

Release date: 7 November (Xbox One, PC)

We’ve got a soft-spot for 3D platformers inspired by the yesteryear titles such as Mario 64, Croc, and Crash Bandicoot, and Super Lucky’s Tale looks to be another great entry into that genre. While Super Lucky’s Tale is somewhat of a throwback to the aforementioned 90s classics, it isn’t as difficult or punishing as some of those games can be. Instead, it’s a fun, light-hearted platformer that people from all ages can enjoy. Plus, the visuals are vividly gorgeous!

Release date: 7 November (Switch)

While id Software’s Doom reboot has been out for a while now, it’s arrival on the Nintendo Switch marks a monumental moment, showcasing that Nintendo’s portable console is in fact beginning to deliver on the games-front. Doom harks back to a time where health was scarce, bullets were aplenty, and enemies pushed you to the limit. Doom isn’t a revolutionary entry into the franchise, but rather a love-letter to old-school Doom fans to remind them of a video game generation gone by, albeit with a new lick of paint.

Need for Speed: Payback

Release date: 10 November (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

The Need for Speed series has been around the block, covering all sorts of themes in recent years, but the veteran racer is coming back to its roots: breaking the law with high-speeds and gorgeous tuned-up vehicles. The latest game arriving this month, Payback, takes a narrative-inspired spin, throwing you into the shoes of a driver looking for revenge. Taking place in the fictional Fortune Valley, players can purchase new cars or rebuild abandoned derelicts, and can customise their vehicles with parts they either win or buy. They can use those rides to participate in races, missions, and activities in single player or multiplayer SpeedLists.

Star Wars: Battlefront II

Release date: 17 November (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Easily the biggest franchise name in popular culture is getting a new movie and game this season, as Star Wars: Battlefront II releases this month. Battlefront II expands upon its multiplayer-only predecessor, adding a more comprehensive online mode and story campaign which ties directly into the Star Wars canon. Up to 40 player matches can be unleashed online, and there will be split-screen offline co-op modes (thank goodness) for those who just want some fun with a buddy.
