There’s a handful of games rounding off the August month and preparing us for September, including the return of a horror veteran, an MMO giant’s new chapter, and some strange yet interesting adventures. Here’s our picks for the games releasing this week, 29 August – 2 September 2016:
Resident Evil 4
Release date: 30 August 2016 (Xbox One, PS4)
Following the re-release of Resident Evil 5 and 6 on Xbox One and PS4 earlier this year, Resident Evil 4 (arguably the best entry in the series) gets its turn this week.
Resident Evil 4 tells the story of Leon Kennedy’s mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the president’s daughter, who has apparently been kidnapped by a Spanish cult known as Los Illuminados. The game debuted in 2005 on GameCube and then PlayStation 2, and marked a turning point in the third-person shooter genre with its over-the-shoulder camera.
The PS4 and Xbox One ports of Resident Evil 4 will come with all of the original game’s bonus content, as well as elements that Capcom added in later versions. That includes the side story featuring Ada Wong, which was first released in the game’s PS2 port, and the Mercenaries mode.
World of Warcraft: Legion
Release date: 30 August 2016 (PC)
World of Warcraft players will be excited to know that the sixth expansion into the insanely popular MMO is arriving this week, adding a new world area, visual upgrades, an increase in level cap from 100 to 110, artifact weapons for each class, the return of a familiar villain, and a new hero class – the demon hunter.
God Eater 2: Rage Burst
Release date 30 August 2016 (PS4, PS Vita)
God Eater 2: Rage Burst is the continuation of the fast-paced action-RPG God Eater series with many new and returning heroes. The story focuses on the two factions of God Eaters: the special task force unit called “Blood”, and the Fenrir Far East Branch. Although each members of both branches has different ranking and positions, as well as their expertise in battles, they each hold an important role in the events of the game.
oth characters and weapons can be deeply customised. The game has over 100 hours of story and gameplay content.
One Way Trip
Release date: 30 August 2016 (PS4, PS Vita)
One Way Trip is a new story-driven adventure game that takes you on a wildly surreal journey through a trippy sci-fi future full of bright colours and dark secrets. When a mass poisoning leaves much of the nation with only six hours left to live, during which time they will be hallucinating constantly, you and your brother must decide how to spend them, and whether or not to hunt for a cure.
