A Cape Town based start-up has launched an Indigogo campaign to help raise the necessary funds needed to produce their product, the MediaBox – a digital media player that will give South Africans access to streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, VIDI, and other international videos-on-demand platforms.
The device is Android-based and features a built-in MicroSD slot, two USB ports, Ethernet, WiFi & Bluetooth (including being a hotspot with up to 21.6Mbps download speed).
MediaBox also lets you control and share your media from your Apple iPhone/iPad, Android phone/tablet, Windows or Linux based phones and tablets. You can use any device with the MBX, and the company’s apps also include the ability to mirror your mobile device’s screen content, regardless of brand or manufacturer.
The team is looking for $65,000 (around R750,000), and the devices will cost $150 (around R1,730) for the standard edition, and $200 (around R2,300) for the model with a built-in 3G modem.
This is a cause worth funding, people!
