The Finest Hours

Release date: 5 February 2016

Over the years, Disney has become a reliable source of inspirational dramatisations of true events, and The Finest Hours is the studio’s next such effort, as the film is loosely based on the Pendleton rescue mission attempt in 1952 by Coast Guard ships. Chris Pine, Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger, John Ortiz and Eric Bana lead the cast. With such a strong team behind the project and even stronger material, The Finest Hours could prove to be a surprise hit of the year.

Spotlight

Release date: 5 February 2016

Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, and Rachel McAdams star in Spotlight, the true story of one of the biggest cover-ups in modern times. An investigative dramatic thriller that delves into how the Boston Globe ‘Spotlight’ team uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core. Their year-long investigation uncovers a decades-long cover-up at the highest levels of Boston’s religious, legal, and government establishments, resulting in a wave of revelations around the world.

Deadpool

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

Release date: 19 February 2016

Michael Bay directs this war film based on a true story. 13 Hours explores the events of an American Ambassador who is killed during an attack on a U.S. compound in Libya on September 11, 2012 by Islamist terrorists. This is an account of the six soldiers who fought fearlessly to defend the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi.

Hail, Caeser

Release date: 19 February 2016

The Coen brothers film gives a comedic look at how a movie studio fixer (Josh Brolin) keeps his 1950s movie stars in line. From George Clooney playing a kidnapped actor, to Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum starring as on-screen darlings, this musical dramedy has all the A-list power it needs to be a hit.

Fifty Shades of Black

If you’ve been missing some Scary Movie-esque parodies in recent times, Fifty Shades of Black should fill that void. Spoofing the erotic drama Fifty Shades of Grey, Marlon Waynes returns to make a mockery of everything the genre is trying to do. Hopefully this provides some tongue-in-cheek laughs.

God of Egypt

Abbie Cornish, Anthony Hopkins, and Colin Farrell star in this mystery thriller about an FBI agent and a reclusive psychic team up in an effort to hunt down a serial killer in this supernatural thriller. As the case progresses, the psychic becomes more important to the case than he knows.
