7 most anticipated games of October 2015

While the extremely busy gaming schedule has already haunted our wallets, October brings even more giant game releases that are set to deliver some unique and exciting experiences for gamers.

Here’s the most anticipated games we can’t wait to play:

Transformers: Devastation

Release date: 6 October (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC) – Buy on Raru.co.za

We’ve had some pretty fun Transformers games released alongside the big-screen counterparts, but no game has truly captured the nostalgia and vivid visuals of the G1 cartoon, until now. Transformers: Devastation is an upcoming beat-’em-up action game based on the original Transformers cartoon series from the 80s. What’s even better is that the crazy minds at Platinum Games (Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Bayonetta) are developing this one. Players will be able to control one of five Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee,Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock as they battle against Decepticon forces in large 3D environments. We’re ready to rollout for this one.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

Release schedule: 7 October 2015 (PS4) – Buy on Raru.co.za

If there’s any series warranting your choice of siding with Playstation, the Uncharted franchise is it. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection prepares you for the fourth instalment (releasing in 2016) by catching you up with the first three brilliant adventures, namely Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Not only have the games been remastered, but they also come with new Trophies and modes such as Explorer, Speed Run, and Brutal Modes will allow players to experience these classics in a new way while introducing newcomers the Uncharted series.

Minecraft: Story Mode

Release date: 13 October (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC, PS Vita, Android, iOS) – Buy on Raru.co.za

If you thought Minecraft was fun but lacked a little bit of narrative direction, you’ll be pretty excited for Minecraft: Story Mode. The upcoming game is an all-new narrative-driven game series developed by Telltale (The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands) in collaboration with Mojang. Set in the world ofMinecraft, the series will feature an original story, driven by player choice. This looks pretty interesting, and with the voice talents of Patton Oswalt, Ashley Johnson, and  Catherine Taber on-board, this is building up to be a real blockbuster.

Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate

Release date: 23 October 2015 (Xbox One, PS4, PC) – Buy on Raru.co.za

The next instalment in the much-loved Assassin’s Creed series has piqued our interest. After the somewhat underwhelming Unity, the franchise is making a jump from Paris to Victorian-era London, which in the gameplay demos we’ve seen, looks alive and begging to be explored.

As with real-life London in those times, the world will have different dynamics to the multiple areas of the city. From poor, crime-ridden boroughs to upper-class cobblestone streets will pave the way for some exciting gameplay. Carriages fill the streets, the buildings are taller than ever, and dense crowds pack the sidewalks, meaning you’ll need some help getting around the city. That’s where the introduction of the rope launcher comes in. A new addition to the Assassin gauntlet, the rope launcher will propel you to new heights at a faster pace or even let you create a zipline between buildings and avoid the streets altogether. Hunting down the wrong-doers of Victorian London just got a whole lot more interesting.

Guitar Hero Live

Release date: 23 October 2015 (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U) – Buy on Raru.co.za

Music games have had a slight absence in recent months, but they original shredder is back and better than ever. Guitar Hero Live returns to the roots of Guitar Hero by focusing only on the guitar. The new controller also features a six-button grid system instead of the typical five-button layout featured on similar games. Expect to rock out to tracks from Pearl Jam, 36 Crazyfists, In Flames, Blink 182, Kasabian, Panic at the Disco, Rush, Paramore, Green Day, Korn, and Red Hot Chili Peppers, amongst others.

Halo 5: Guardians

Release Date: 27 October 2015 (Xbox One) – Buy on Raru.co.za

Coming later this month is the next major episode in what is arguably the most beloved first-person shooter series of all time. The Halo franchise is nearly synonymous with Xbox, so Halo 5: Guardians is a huge deal for Microsoft.

We’ve seen quite a bit of multiplayer footage, but not much is known of the campaign and its cryptic story. What we do know is that the mercenary Spartan Locke will feature heavily alongside Master Chief, but they won’t exactly be buddies, as Locke is hunting down the iconic hero this time around. There will however be an onslought of awesome military and alien weaponry, some crazy enemies, and some pretty spectacular fire-fights coming our way in Halo 5.

WWE 2K16

Release date: 30 October 2015 (PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One) – Buy on Raru.co.za

If you’ve been missing some spandex-clad suplexes this season, you’ll be glad to know that WWE 2K16 is releasing this month. There will be more than 120 WWE playable characters that will not include retro-themed characters, so that alone should be something to look forward to. In addition to the massive roster, there is a revamped career mode and extensive improvement has been done to bolster the gameplay, including an expanded repertoire of stock reversals – moves that could come in handy once a player finds himself in an awkward situation. In summary, it looks like WWE 2K16 is being redesigned to be more skill-based rather than wrecking those buttons from constant mashing.

Too many awesome games!!!!! Suppose I’m not eating this month….lol
On another note, I have been shopping with Raru ever since Kalahari closed, and I have never had better service. Their prices are amazing, and their website is so quick and easy to navigate… Any gamer who isn’t shopping with them is seriously missing out… I tried Takealot twice and hated everything about the experience… They stuffed up both orders and I ended up not getting the items I ordered….

Really??? I used to love kalahari and have been let down by take a lot. I bought a bunch of stuff and they got back to me saying they didn’t have stock of the item, which was chilled. They gave me a credit note which is fine but a week later they had they had stock but it was more expensive. Very annoying.

At least it works quickly, and you can find what ever you are looking for…. Unlike Takealot or Loot… having a pretty UI isn’t always the best route to go… look at Amazon as an example…. ugly as anything, but it works…
