Game releases 22 June

This week marks the return of the Dark Knight in his biggest video game yet, the comeback of a veteran demon hunter (albeit in a shiny new layer of paint), and a faithful sidekick with the quickest tongue you’ll ever see. Here’s the biggest game releases in SA this week:

Batman: Arkham Knight

(PC, Xbox One, PS4)

Rocksteady has already made it clear that they want to end Batman Arkham video game franchise with a bang, and Batman: Arkham Knight seems to be well on track to achieve it. In this explosive finale, Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect. Leading the super villains roster is Scarecrow, who has Gotham city in a stranglehold.

For the very first time in the franchise history, Batmobile will be drivable in Batman: Arkham Knight. The addition of this legendary vehicle, combined with the acclaimed gameplay of the Batman Arkham series, offers gamers the ultimate and complete Batman experience as they tear through the streets and soar across the skyline of the entirety of Gotham City.

Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition

(Xbox One, PS4)

Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition brings the beloved 2008 hack-‘n-slash to current gen consoles and adds three new playable characters (Vergil, Trish, and Lady) to the roster. Each character brings a different skill set and weapon preference (Lady uses range attacks more, Vergil is close-quarters), which will provide some longevity to the remastered title, which, of course, also features enhanced visuals, frame-rate and menus.

Yoshi’s Woolly World

(Wii U)

One of the most unique-looking games this whole year is Yoshi’s Woolly World on the Wii U, and it’s releasing this week. As the name suggests, the game is a new textile-themed game starring Mario’s dinosaur companion, Yoshi. Nintendo’s green buddy and his world are transformed into objects made of yarn, wool and more. Yoshi’s tongue interacts with the world, grabbing and unfurling the world’s fabric as he explores the landscape. Yoshi, who is made of yarn, will be able to transform into different things. The game will also include a two-player mode.

Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward & A Realm Reborn Bundle

(PC, Xbox One, PS4)

Final Fantasy and fans of Japanese RPGs will be ecstatic with this particular release this week – an all-in-one bundle that includes the standard edition of both Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. Heavensward is the highly-anticipated first expansion for FFXIV that charts a new course for players with an increased level cap and brand new adventures. The expansion features an all-new storyline surrounding the Holy See of Ishgard and the thousand-year Dragonsong War, a brand new playable race named the “Au Ra,” new jobs, and more. The expansion also continues cross-platform gameplay between the PC, PS3, and PS4.

Moto GP 15

(PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4)

MotoGP 15, the next major instalment in Milestone Studios’ motorcycle racing series, will release for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC this week. The game features a whole new level of rider customisation, an enhanced career mode and the entire 2015 season of the motorcycle world championship. MotoGP 15 will feature over 20 different bike models for players to choose from, as well as 40 liveries sporting an array of official color options. The appearance of the rider can be modified as well, allowing gamers to pick their own boots, gloves, and outfit.

I am very keen to give MotoGP 15 a try on Xbox One. But it will have to wait for a while as I need to play some other stuff first.
