This weekend brings a host of sporting action to enjoy, including a Rugby Championship encounter that’s sure to be a cracker, some Premier League action that all eyes will be on, and an unmissable Currie Cup clash that should garner your attention.
Springboks vs All Blacks
After the impressive Springbok performance against Australia last weekend, Heyneke Meyer’s men should fancy their chances in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Meyer has gone with the same team as last week, although Bismarck du Plessis comes into the starting line-up, who will be sure to give some Kiwis nightmares following his infamous colossal hit on Dan Carter last year.
The All Blacks have secured the Rugby Championship, but they’ll have their unbeaten record to hold onto, and if anyone is to threaten that milestone, it’ll be the Springboks. Expect a cracker with an emphasis on tactical kicking and counter-attacking rugby.
Sharks vs Golden Lions
The Sharks’ win over the EP Kings last weekend will have given the men from Durban some momentum going forward, while the Lions have also shown to have a clinical attacking game plan spurred on by some great counter-attacking rugby from their own half.
It will be a fascinating encounter of punch and counter-punch. The Sharks will need to cut out the errors if they’re to make a go of it, though.
The Lions will welcome back Marnitz Boshoff, whose return at flyhalf could make all the difference during the play-offs.
Arsenal vs Chelsea
Arsenal’s encounter with Chelsea should have it all – goals, excitement, tackles and drama with Chelsea being the firm favourites.
Sitting at the top of the league and looking pretty, Chelsea will look to extend their lead with another convincing display. Chelsea are missing Didier Drogba and Ramires, whilst Cesc Fabregas comes up against his old club and Diego Costa, who may have been a doubt, has declared himself fit.
Arsenal on the other hand have injury concerns with Mathieu Debuchy and Yaya Sanogo out along with Theo Walcott, Nacho Monreal, Aaron Ramsey and Serge Gnabry, whilst Mikel Arteta is a possible doubt. Arsenal will be looking to put things right against Chelsea after their last meeting, but they have a difficult task in hand.
