game releases

Check out what games are hitting SA store shelves and digital outlets this week.

This week poses a problem for gamers, as three massive releases are hitting our store shelves, making which one to pick up quite the conundrum, but on the bright side, there’s some serious variety, with magical adventures, blocky dinosaurs and bank heists all on the cards.

Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

9 June (Xbox One, PS4)

Bethesda’s popular Elder Scrolls series makes its debut jump to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with The Elder Scrolls Online MMO. The game released on PC back in April 2014 and received mixed reviews from critics and fans. Zenimax took the fans and critics feedback on Elder Scrolls Online PC version and made some massive improvements in the PS4/Xbox One version, Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.

As the name suggest, Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is set in the continent of Tamriel and features a storyline indirectly connected with the other games. There will be a lot of character choices to be made beyond those of the race. Additionally, player character will have an option to become either a vampire or werewolf.

Lego Jurassic World

12 June (PC, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, 3DS)

A weird combination, but nonetheless a great one. Lego and dinosaurs combine to form Lego Jurassic World, which is the latest Lego game based on the popular movie series. The game will have all the four plots of the Jurassic Park film franchise. The game will offer more than 100 playable characters (each having special powers), including 20 dino species and Mr. DNA, the famous cartoon character from the first movie. Additionally, players will have the option to create custom characters and dinosaurs.

Payday 2: Crimewave Edition

12 June (Xbox One, PS4)

If you’ve ever wanted to recreate Point Break or just bust into some banks, the squad crime shooter Payday 2 returns this week all wrapped up in a new Crimewave Edition for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This remastered version of the game includes a ton of interesting features and add-ons from the last-gen version. According to the dev, PayDay 2: Crimewave Edition offers an ultimate Payday experience with graphical enhancements such as improved frame-rate and texture quality. The game offers four-player cooperative play, this makes the job of progressing better which results in more rewards. There is also a new character customisation and a crafting system that lets crews build and customise their own guns and gear.

I so want to buy Lego Jurassic park and Payday 2. Don’t really have the time to play the other one.

Definitely into my Lego games now. Was a little hesitant, but LEGO Marvel superheroes is awesome with the girlfriend! 🙂 Got my eye on Payday too. Will write a review within this next week and let you know my thoughts 🙂

Bit of a typo – 9 June for Tamriel 😉 picking it up today, will comment my first thoughts of the game after the 15gb day one update :/ might wait till next week, haha, not so blessed with netspeed in SA.

However, I must say this looks worlds better than DragonAge. Inquisition was such a let down. I find my self forcing my way through the story line. Very laborious and at times repetitive. The skill tree is super limited and you can end up having 3 characters with the same skill trait. Not really diverse…
    Rant over…

Thanks @scott_alan_smith:disqus. Fixed typo! 🙂 Awesome – that would be great! Let us know your thoughts. Ya, I think the constant updates that the game will inevitably get are going to hurt our data caps in SA.

I think you can always bank on Bethesda producing the goods (albeit with some expected initial bugs). It looks really good and will be interesting to see if it converts a lot of console gamers to the MMO.
