The Lions have announced the team that will take on the Southern Kings in PE for the first match of the promotion/relegation fixtures for Super Rugby.

The team features many players making their return to the Johannesburg-based franchise, following an exodus of talent after the Lions were excluded from the 2013 Super Rugby season.

Elton Jantjies makes his return from the Stormers, and will start in the number 10 jersey.

Franco van der Merwe (Sharks) and Martin Bezuidenhout (Stormers) are two more players returning from other franchises in order to help their former union.

Will be awesome to see the big man back in the Number 10 jersey! Injuries are going to take their toll on the lions squad.

Hopefully the Lions thump the Kings!

I think Elton is going to play his heart out – he knows what its like with the Lions at their worst and at their best, so hopefully they can pull it out of the bag.

Also i think he knows he doesn’t really have a starting position at the stormers and would most likely be sold if the Lions don’t get back into Super Rugby. So hopefully he’ll play out of his boots!
